    2020 HR SKILL CONNECT

    RIMS HR club, The Peopable hosted a workshop on ‘2020 HR SKILL CONNECT’ on 25th Jan,2020. The organizer of the session was Edu Pinnacle.
    The theme for the session was
    3Ls- Lean, Learn and Lead
    (Lean into the future, learn the new skills and lead your career)

    This event was intensively interactive and activity driven to impart the necessary contemporary skills needed by the students in the corporate world. An overwhelming response and participation was observed for the training workshop as 61 students from PGDM and PGPM students(1st years) registered themselves.
    The 2020 HR Skill Connect workshop commenced by warmly welcoming the guest speaker, Ms. Pooja Chakraborty,a content writer and HR Manager at KPMG Bangalore, Mr. Bharath Rajanna Founder of Edu Pinnacle and Dr. Radha R,dean. The event was hosted by Ms. Amulya, a student of PGDM.
    Dr. Radha R, dean addressed the students with an inspirational story. She expressed that the key mantra of being professionally successful in 2020 would be to stay corporate-ready through continuous upskilling and right skilling .

    Ms.Pooja started the session by dividing the students into 6 groups(teams). She briefed HR as a Function that included Talent Acquisition, Talent Management, Employee Engagement, Performance Development, Compensation management, Benefits Management, Compliance and Audit, and Policies and Process. In the first session, Role-play activity was given to each group the activity involved preparing and presenting a play on the selected topics for each team.

    The topics given to the teams included
    Team 1: Discussion with Management on how would you build the culture of the organization.
    Team 2: Termination conversation with an employee
    Team 3: Discussion with your management on why is Agile working important.
    Team 4: Difficult performance conversation and closure.
    Team 5: Effective interview process.
    Team 6: Discussing investment in Team Building as a priority.

    After watching the play presented by each team Ms. Pooja summarized the topics and gave her inputs by showing more clarity on the given topics and how actually these situations work in a corporate .The methodology adopted was used cases in real time scenarios. The first session came to an end at 1:30 pm.

    In the Post lunch session, Ms. Pooja started the session by explaining HR Analytics, HR Accounting and how it is applied in the corporate. It was an interactive session. Soon followed Design Thinking activity in which all the teams had to ideate, brainstorm and create their individual process for the given proposals.

    The topics given to the teams to develop proposals included

    Team 1: Exit Process
    Team 2: Onboarding Process
    Team 3: Rewards Process
    Team 4: Performance Development
    Team 5: Campus Recruitment
    Team 6: Employee Engagement

    After analyzing the charts which were prepared by each team she gave quick feedback on how it actually works in the corporate and what better could the teams have done .

    Students learnt and developed operating functions and technical skills that were essentially required by HR professionals. It was a very fruitful session with plenty of takeaways :Campus to corporate tips, knowing corporate expectation, key success mantra for Gen Z .It was all about connecting the dots.
    Vote of thanks was delivered by Mr. Ram, a student of PGDM. Followed by the distribution of certificates to all the participants by Ms. Pooja ,the guest speaker of the day.
    Finally the processes developed through design thinking activity was pinned up and displayed on the bulletin board in the first floor of the campus.
