A two day Management Seminar on “Managing Business in a Technological Era” was held on 2nd and 3rd of April 2018 at the Ramaiah Institue of Management Studies (RIMS), Bangalore. The Sub-themes of this seminar included various contemporary topics that have taken the industry by storm like Artificial Intelligence, Business Analytics, Block Chain Technology, Design Thinking, Machine Learning, Robotics to name a few. Each topic was taken up by eminent speakers who shed light on the importance and relevance of these subjects in every sector of the economy and business. Dr. Pavan Soni, CEO of Inflexion Point Consulting and a TEDX speaker, dwelt on the trends and lessons most apt for management students. Dr Chandrashekar, Director of Business Analytics, IFIM Business School, introduced the basic concept of Block Chain Technology through his vast experience and quick wit. Dr. Rangan Varadan of Billion Loans demystified the working of Block Chain Technology.
The first dayâs concluding lecture was delivered by Mr. Rajul Agarwal from Accenture who elaborated on Artificial Intelligence and Analytics in Retail, by giving a few quick pointers on how to tackle AI in our daily lives. The second day was off to a good start with Mr. Sreejith Sreenivasan from KPMG, an excellent speaker who captured the interest of the participants through his simple explanations and visual presentations on Analytics being used in day to day life. Mr Ramesh Krishnamurthy, also from KPMG continued and interacted with the students over Design Thinking and its innumerable possibilities. Mr. Hari Padmanaban of Accenture, spoke about Digital Change and its impact on various industries. Mr. Kuru Subramaniam, also from Accenture highlighted the role of Block Chain in Retail, bringing clarity to the concepts spoken by the previous speakers. The seminar was brought to a close by Mr. Dheeraj Ranka, who explained the concept of Cryptocurrency and its rising importance globally. Prof Chowdari Prasad, Dean and Prof Prasad Linganna along with a smart team of faculty and students organised the seminar.
Ramaiah Institute of Management Studies (RIMS) is one of the few B-Schools in Bangalore to organise a seminar on these disruptive technologies. The seminar was a grand success, with all the students partaking in it and enthusiastically absorbing every aspect discussed. RIMS was started under the aegis of the M. S. Ramaiah Foundation in 2007 and has successfully completed 10 years of existence delivering quality management education to students from across the country. Ramaiah Institute of Business Studies, Ramaiah Institute of Legal Studies and Ramaiah International Finishing School are also a part of this prestigious foundation.
